You be versed, there just isn’t a whole heck of a lot of things active down on the courts right now. I mean - other than Rafael Nadal cruising into the Barcelona fixed in smashing fashion and Vera Zvonareva entrancing the Prague Open title without dropping a set the unreserved tournament.
But there’s a lot going on off the tennis court and there is a persnickety cause that is very near and dear to my pluck: May is ALS Awareness month. For those who aren’t in the be familiar with, ALS is a terminal illness that attacks motor neurons. It’s also commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s complaint. For me, I have a close friend who is dying from the bastard disability. His name is Nick, and he’s truly an stunning person.
So, armed with my cause, I sat down to brainstorm ways tennis could be familiar to promote ALS Awareness. Here’s what I came up with:
- Assume damage “Strike Out ALS” bracelets for your hour-want hitting session after work.
- Meet your tennis buddies together and participate in the Walk to Finish ALS.
- Host a tennis tournament with the proceeds universal to ALS.
- Need some new duds to hit the courts with? Lecher awareness by wearing ALS Fighter threads.
And that’s all I’ve got at the moment. Any more ideas? Any stories of people you be acquainted with with ALS? Comment away - it’s too grave of a cause to let slide by without trying to originate a difference.
